The A to Z of EyeSites?
Africam: See live, wild animals at an amazing website in wildest Africa. Some old friends of mine haves set up a series of solar powered remote web-cams at waterholes in the bush!
British Contact Lens Association: Try their download page for some useful stuff and look further for news on their excellent meetings, journal and CE in general.
CIBA: Some really neat areas. I find Noel Brennan and Adrian Bruce?s ?On-line Guide to Clinical Contact Lens Management? most useful and this link takes you straight there. Surf other areas for more.
Digital Ophthalmic Slide Collection: Literally hundreds of impressive slides covering most aspects of the eye and adnexae from the New York Uni. Dept. of Ophthalmology and Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary. Get back to the home page of the Digital Journal of Ophthalmology for grand rounds and plenty more action.
EyeMax: Plenty here to study, including an A-Z of eye disease and search the rest of the site for heaps more!
FAAO: The respected American Academy of Optometry website is full of references to the ?yellow peril?. [Know known as the journal; Optometry and Vision Science] with lots about CE, conferences, and plenty of Optometric news, views and links.
Glossary of Ophthalmic Terms: A useful site for staff and patients, with spelling, definitions and links to related topics.
HealthWeb?Optometry: A site with a wealth of links to numerous Optometry related sites and tons of information. This link alone should keep you surfing till the cows come home. Online, digital and in 'yer face.
Illusions: Optical illusions that is; Some mind bending stuff to really tweak those senses!
JazzFM: Mellow out with some jazz sounds while you jive the rest of the sites. Click the ?LIVE? box and follow instructions, for live ?FM? radio via the web.
Keratoconus: Well what else did you expect? Check out the National Keratoconus Foundation [USA] and related links.
Links: there's something, somewhere for most in here.
Mijenix: With all this surfing and downloading you?ll need something with which to zip and unzip all these flies. Try Zipmagic
NASA: Look around for some out of this world stuff. Plenty on Hubble, optics and NASA TV. Keep Searching.
Optical Visualisation: Some pretty amazing stuff here on topography, spline curves, fluorescein patterns and cornea related issues. Prepare for some mega-downloads as you delve deeper into the site. Apple?s QuickTime will be useful. Get it from Tucows if you find the Apple site slow or unavailable!
Prio: A site for sore eyes, or so they say.
QANTIM: Download this Travel Itinerary Manager. A truly marvellous application for planning your next trip!
RGPLI: The Rigid Gas Permeable Lens Institute at the CLMA. Some interesting cases, with pix, numbers and some good clinical stuff.
Slack. Inc: A large EyeSite that covers so much it?d take pages to list it all!
Two Cows?: For download junkies this site is nirvana! Every kind of excellent [and not so excellent] software, apps.etc. They rate the value/use of the software by the number of cows. Five yellow cows are good. Mostly its free, shareware or time limited. Try B 4 U Buy.
UV: ? Groovy? For a different slant on UV radiation try this one! Ultraviolet Catastrophe ? Adventures in Wonderland??
Vision: In this case 3D vision; All about stereopsis, magic eye pics and more. Great for patient education.
Webopaedia: I figure you?ll work this one out. Especially for those who detest the three letter acronym.
X.Com: For the most non.com site on the web, go here.
Y2K: Hype? Check this out!
ZAPPA: The Late Great Frank?s Homepage. Need I say more?
This should keep you busy for a while.
It's mostly rel-eye-vant stuff but there are a few fun links and some computer related ones too. The net is an amazing resource. If you use it ?correctly? it can save plenty of time and open up avenues that even a few years ago were not available to the ?man in the street?. It can also be a major time ?waster? so the links above are designed to get you where you want to be ? FAST. In some cases you may want to work your way back to the sites front [home] page from the point of entry, so as to further explore specific areas of that site and explore related links. It's sometimes quite interesting to use the back button to see where you actually started! It's a lot like thinking and continually following different trains of thought. After a while you come up with something really weird and wonder how on earth you got there!
Poli-tics.
You know my views on Politics and Politicians?!
I recently read an interesting definition on the words on some or other spammed, joke e-mail chain letter.
It read: ?poli?..from Latin as in ?many??.and ?tics? as in blood sucking creatures?. I surmise one could add ?and they make you sick, don't they??
