Myopia Profile and EssilorLuxottica renew partnership

EssilorLuxottica and Myopia Profile is continuing its partnership to address the growing need for best-practice myopia management among optometrists to halt the global increase in myopia prevalence in children and adolescents.

The partnership has already boosted practitioners’ engagement with Myopia Profile’s educational platforms, said Dr Kate Gifford, founder and director of Myopia Profile. Myopia Profile saw a 10-fold growth in search terms for ‘myopia control spectacles lenses’ among practitioners over the last year, and a quadrupling of searches by the public.

“There has been a colossal increase in engagement with our digital platforms since we started our partnership with EssilorLuxottica,” Dr Gifford said. “We have seen a doubling of growth year-on-year and are thrilled to see the myopia message spreading wider and wider – but we can also see where there is more work to do. There is definitely a thirst for knowledge and information with regard to myopia-control spectacle lenses and we aim to provide more of that through our partnership with EssilorLuxottica.”

The partners said they will release a podcast series covering clinical communication in myopia management, as well as the practice fundamentals of getting started in managing childhood myopia. The podcast’s 10-minute episodes will focus on practical advice for eyecare practitioners and will be available exclusively on EssilorLuxottica’s open-learning platform, Leonardo.
