Oculo bought by Revenio

Revenio Group, a health tech and ophthalmic diagnostic solutions company based in Finland, has agreed to buy Melbourne-based teleophthalmology company Oculo. 

 

The acquisition is an integral part of Revenio’s growth strategy and a significant step towards software-connected eyecare, said CEO Jouni Toijala. “Software technology solutions are significantly enhancing patient eyecare pathways and the clinical processes of eye care professionals. There are tremendous opportunities in improving the productivity and quality of eyecare, and we see improving the continuum of care through secure communications and teleophthalmology with Oculo as a key.”

Oculo was co-founded by Professor Jonathan Crowston and Dr Taylor at the Centre for Eye Research Australia before being spun out on its own. Since launching in 2015, with the support of Specsavers ANZ, it has grown its user base to about 70% of eyecare providers in Australia, managing more than 1,000,000 patients, said the companyThe Oculo platform is designed to share clinical imaging, referrals and other clinical correspondence securely and instantly between healthcare professionals.
