Dr Renoh Chalakkal with ODocs nun IR camera

The oDocs Eye Care team has appointed Dr Renoh Johnson Chalakkal as the social enterprise’s new senior research software engineer.

Dr Chalakkal, a recipient of the New Zealand Optometric Vision Research Foundation (NZOVRF) scholarship for his smartphone-based retinal research database, joined oDocs after finishing his PhD in software engineering. He said it was a great honour to be offered the full-time role. “I’m a real supporter of what oDocs Eye Care is trying to achieve; stopping preventable blindness globally.”

He will be focusing on artificial intelligence and software development for the oDocs nun IR camera, a non-mydriatic smartphone-based infrared retinal camera scheduled for global release in November 2020.
