The Australasian College of Optical Dispensing (ACOD) has set a new record for its New Zealand courses, with 22 students attending a recent Auckland workshop. ACOD directors James Gibbins and Chedy Kalach said they were thrilled to be back in New Zealand teaching face to face after two years of online tutoring. “We were obviously very excited to welcome so many new students. It is an amazing class; they will all become very skilful dispensing opticians,” said Gibbins.
Another reason for celebrating was the investment in eight new, high-quality Magnon focimeters, organised by the Association of Dispensing Opticians of New Zealand (ADONZ) and OptiBlocks, which will provide a huge step forward in training future DOs, he said. “Crystal-clear images, smooth-as-silk power drums, firm frame tables, and the convenience of battery power. Our thanks to Tony Cosentino and BOC Instruments for supporting this very significant purchase, and to ADONZ and OptiBlocks.”
