Auckland OPSM optometrists came together for an evening of learning, collaboration, and innovation during the company’s recent Eyecare Immersion event.
In Auckland for the event, EssilorLuxottica senior eyecare manager ANZ Tegan Matheson said the update reflected the organisation's continued evolution and diversification into med tech. “EssilorLuxottica’s recent acquisitions – including Heidelberg Engineering, Automation & Robotics, PUcore, and Optegra – are broadening our technological capabilities and advancing our position as leaders in eyecare,” Matheson said.
Throughout the evening, optometrists experienced first-hand how eyewear is being redefined through smart wearable technology, with demonstrations of Ray-Ban Meta AI Gen 2, Oakley Meta AI, and Nuance Audio glasses. These innovations are designed to integrate digital connectivity and increase accessibility and lifestyle convenience into eyewear tomorrow.
Attendees also explored the expansion of new clinical service offerings across Aotearoa and Australia – including Espansione’s eye-light low-level light therapy treatment for dry eye.
“Our continued investment in cutting-edge technology, including increasing the footprint of Optos NG and Revo FC OCT to the network, reflects our commitment to elevating core eyecare services,” Matheson said. “At the heart of this evolution is our dedication to excellence in every patient interaction – and the vital role our optometrists play in shaping the future of eyecare.”
She said the event underscored EssilorLuxottica’s focus on technology and human connection – “empowering clinicians to deliver patient-centred care while embracing the innovations that will define the next era of vision and hearing health”.
