Hoya Vision Care has released its six-year Miyosmart follow-up, showing continued long-term lens effectiveness in slowing myopia progression in children.
The study included 90 children in Asia, aged 8-13, and provided strong evidence of the lens’ effectiveness in slowing myopia progression and creating a sustained effect. Patients who stopped wearing the spectacle lenses displayed no rebound effects when compared to the initial myopia rates of progression during the two-year randomised control trial or with the general population.
The findings were shared by study lead Professor Carly Lam, Centre for Myopia Research, Hong Kong Polytechnic University, at the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology 2022 conference.
