Plastic-neutral initiative expands

Expanding its commitment to sustainability, CooperVision’s plastic-neutrality initiative now covers its full range of contact lenses (CLs) distributed in Australia and New Zealand.

Under the company’s partnership with social enterprise Plastic Bank, CooperVision purchases credits for every box of CLs distributed in these regions. Each credit funds Plastic Bank’s collection and recycling of ocean-bound plastic into the global supply chain, equal to the weight of the plastic used in CooperVision CLs, the blister and the outer carton packaging.

CooperVision is on a sustainability journey and is building a strong track record of sustainable manufacturing and operations, said Michelle North, general manager ANZ at CooperVision. “Since plastic plays a critical role in the sterile protection of our contact lenses, the commitment to making all of them in Australia and New Zealand plastic neutral is an opportunity to make even more of a positive impact for our oceans,” she said.

All CooperVision CL brands sold and distributed in Australia and New Zealand – including MyDay, Biofinity, Clariti 1 day, MiSight 1 day, Proclear and cAIR – are automatically included in the initiative.
