Zeiss: The new Visufit 1000

Dominating Zeiss’ stand and drawing the eye as soon as you entered O=Mega19’s exhibition hall, was the futuristic and somewhat robot-looking Visufit 1000, the company’s new digital 3D centration platform.

“The digital age is redefining the optometry practice. Patients are demanding higher service standards than ever, and even experienced eye care professionals are facing new challenges,” said Zeiss in its Visufit product literature. “Customisation and convenience will become key elements of differentiation for your practice. Visufit 1000 will help you address the latest digitalisation trends without sacrificing accuracy or ease-of-use.”

Despite it’s rather striking appearance, there was no shortage of willing optometrists and dispensing opticians keen to give the device a go and experience it’s almost full-proof, fully automatic, one-shot, 180⁰ centration capabilities, designed to make the old pen and ruler measuring techniques of the past redundant.

The new technology attracted so much interest, conversations about its capabilities continued on into the evening at Zeiss’ popular Moon 50 Party, complete with friendly, fully-kitted out astronauts – a wonderful celebration and highlight of O=Mega19, celebrating the 50th anniversary of the moon landing.
